Toon Vandevorst was born in 1970 in Helmond.
Education
He studied piano with Rian de Waal at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and composition with Klaas de Vries at the Conservatory of Rotterdam. He has also studied singing since 1995 with Ronald Klekamp and he attended early music master classes with Rossana Bertini, Kees Boeke, Jill Feldman and Christina Pluhar.
Activities
As a pianist, he played contemporary music and his own compositions. As a vocalist, he sang his own works and performed in numerous theatrical productions. Moreover, he has worked as a chorister with conductors Peter Dijkstra, Jos Leussink, Paul McCreesh, Daniel Reuss, Jos van Veldhoven, and others. From 2004 he lives and works in Oakland, California (USA).
Compositions
Vandevorst has written for music theatre but also chamber and vocal works with performances in Europe and elsewhere. In addition to these works he has written numerous popular songs.
