Corry de Roo-Vierdag was born on July 26, 1925.
Musical Education
She began her studies in 1940 at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague: piano, harpsichord and cello (with Léon Orthel, Theo van der Pas (piano accompaniment.), C. Walther Boer, Carel van Leeuwen- Boomkamp and Janny van Wering). She received theory lessons from Martin Lürsen, Henri Geraedts and Adriaan Engels. Upon finishing conservatory she continued her studies for several years with Eduardo del Pueyo.
Activities
As of 1947 she played piano, celesta and harpsichord in the Residentie Orkest. For a long period she formed a duo with Adrienne de Smedt, and they performed frequently internationally and for radio broadcasts. As soloist she performed in concerts by Mozart, Beethoven, Saint-Saëns, Bach, Frank Martin and Collizi. From 1956 to 1983 she taught piano at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague. At the same time she taught for sixteen years at the Vrije School in the Hague where she also worked with the school orchestra. She also worked for some ten years at a school connected to the Royal Conservatory in the Hague, preparing young children for a piano education.
