Caroline Berkenbosch was born in 1968 in Bussum.
Education
She studied composition at the Utrecht Conservatory of Music with Henk Alkema and from 1994 to 1996 with Louis Andriessen at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
Compositions
The composition Druk (1995) for piano, tuba, violin, viola and violoncello was performed during the Gaudeamus Music Week 1996. Monument 2 (1997) was performed on 25 September 1997 in Amsterdam by the Netherlands Ballet Orchestra, conductor Zsolt Nagy during the Project Young Composers. Monument 11 was commissioned by the Nederlands Studenten Orkest in 2000 for their annual tour and Monument 21 was performed in Muziekcentrum Vredenburg in Utrecht by an Utrecht wind ensemble with string orchestra conducted by Otto Tausk. In 2003 Berkenbosch wrote Wiegelied (Cradle Song) together with Pipilotti Rist. Monument 35 was written for Orkest de Volharding in 2004.
Prizes
Monument 2 was awarded the NOG Stimuleringsprijs.
