Bertha Tideman - Wijers was born on January 8, 1887 in Zutphen. She died on January 1, 1976.
Musical education
From the age of seven to twelve she received piano lessons from her mother. In 1900 the family moved to Berlin. There she received lessons from her sister and the pianist Marie Tauszky. She studied music theory and composition at the Stern Conservatory. In 1906 she began studies at the Hochschule für Musik, piano with Ernst van Dohnányi and composition with Richard Rössler. She received her diploma in 1909.
Activities
In 1908 en 1909 she gave concerts for two pianos with her sister, Betsy Wijersgaf. From 1911 tot 1929 she lived in the Dutch East Indies as wife to an administrative manager. Her first compositions were composed there: Oostersche Impressies, for piano and b>Kindersproke, for narrartor and piano.

Tideman - Wijers wrote many children songs, art songs and works for carillon.
