Biography Aux Raus

Aux Raus is an electro-gabber-punk duo from Amsterdam.

2004 - 2006

Thanks to the efforts of their manager, Ruud van der Peijl, singer Bastiaan Bosma and guitarist Luuk Bouwman, two former students of the St. Joost art academy in Breda, put in a great deal of performing experience with their drum computer at DJ Joost van Bellen's Rauw nights. Aux Raus plays a mixture of gabber, techno and punk with a great deal of speed and humor. In live performances singer Bosma's wild stage antics stand out, in which parts of the stage equipment and beer glasses fly about and shatter. Usually nobody gets hurt, although there are the occasional confrontations with security guards. In November 2004 the track Fall is selected for one of the free compilations given away with the music magazine FRET. The band records in the Mexican studio of Carlos Amorales, label owner of Nuevos Ricos. Aux Raus also does two tours of Mexico.

2007 - 2008

Aux Raus In January 2007 Aux Raus performs at the Noorderslag festival twice, doing their own show, and guesting with their friends of Malle Pietje and the Bimbos. Their debut album This Is How This Works wins the 2007 3VOOR12 Award. Aux Raus performs abroad regularly. Mid September 2007 the duo travels with the program Dutch Punch, a festival of Dutch music, film and video art, to the Russian cities of St. Petersburg, Moscow and Pskov. A month later they perform at the New York CMJ Music Marathon. Aux Raus wins an Essent Award, earning them again a place at the January 2008 Noorderslag festival in Groningen. Under the name DAMN! Aux Raus performs with other Dutch bands at the Karma Lounge during the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas on 12 March 2008. In December the duo takes part in the Berlin edition of the Amsterdam club night Rauw at the club Scala, a presentation by the Muziek Centrum Nederland (Music Center the Netherlands) entitled Plastic Dreams.

Malle Pietje and the Bimbos

Aux Raus's first performance in 2009 takes place on 9 January in Paris, together with Alec Empire and T.raumschmiere. The duo also has a number of gigs in Brussels, twice in February and once in April. Bosma and Luuk Bouwman sign with Top Notch. It is the first time this label signs an act that doesn't play hiphop. For Tralatitions, the first single off the album The Brick Is In The Air (August), they shoot a music video in Austin, Texas. The song Fall is used in Latin America in a commercial for cell phones. Late April/early May they perform two shows in Hungary. A Mexican tour in May has to be cancelled because of the swine flu. Aux Raus does travel to Colombia for concerts in early June.

2010 - 2011

After one and a half year working in the studio the third album All Creeping Things Stopped is released in April 2011. De tracks are recorded at a studio near the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. Live sound engineer Gizmo does the mixing and gives the album a raw punk vibe. In the park the duo meet a street musician. They ask him to play some parts on saxophone and clarinet and give him 50 Euro's for the effort.

Coevorduh Marike Jager
