Biography Wolfgang Delnui

Wolfgang Delnui (Belgium) is born in 1977 in Aachen, Germany.


Education

He studied eurhythmics at the Institut de Rythmique Jaques-Dalcroze in Brussels. He then studied composition with Robert HP Platz at the Maastricht Conservatory (The Netherlands). He also followed an electronic music course at the Centre de Recherche et de Formation musicales de Wallonie (Liège, Belgium). In 2007 he attended the masterclass for composition of the Internationale Sommerakademie Prag-Wien-Budapest during which he worked with musicians from Klangforum Wien and the composers Nigel Osborne and German Toro-Pérez.


Activities

Since 2002 Delnui has been teaching music at the Musikakademie der deutschsprachigen Gemeinschaft Belgiens. In 2005 he started teaching eurhythmics at the Académie de Musique René Defossez in Spa, Belgium. In 2005 he worked and lived as a guest at the Fundácio Àrea Creació Son Bielí on Mallorca (Spain). In 2006 he was composer in residence with Ensemble ’88.


Compositions

His works have been performed in several countries and festivals such as Gaudeamus Music Week (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), Ostbelgienfestival (Eupen, Belgium), the XXVII Encontre Internacional de Compositores Illes Balears (Mallorca, Spain) and the Donaueschinger Musiktage - project: The Next Generation - (Germany). The Konzert für Flöte und Ensemble was premiered by Ensemble der Robert-Schumann-Musikhochschule Düsseldorf under Rüdiger Bohn with Angélique van Duurling as soloist. In the autumn of 2006, the Dutch chamber music formation Ensemble’88 played a series of four Delnui portrait concerts in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.


Prizes

In 2004 the composition Looptonen for 2 flutes, was awarded with the Flutonicon Composition Prize. Zeithände for sopano and soundtrack was nominated for the Gaudeamus Prize 2006 and in 2007 selected for the off program of the Donaueschinger Musiktage.
