1992 - 1994

The Apemen are formed in 1992 by guitarist Jeroen van de Sande, bassist David Andriesse, organist Albert Benier, drummer Mike Rosema. Later they are joined by fifth band member and sample man Joep Dale. Also a band member in those early days is 7Zuma7 guitarist John Peate. During those first years the group releases four singles and a debut album. In 1993 the groups sends a demo to Dick Dale.

1995

The second album, Surfvival Of De Onbeschofste ('Surfvival of the Most Rude') is released. It contains both covers and the band's own material and is greeted with positive reviews. The Apemen support Dick Dale when he plays a gig in the Netherlands.

1996 - 1998

The Apemen play most of the Dutch and Belgian clubs.

1999

The Apemen tour Germany and Switzerland. The group is also working on a new, less surf-oriented, follow-up of their debut album. In the spring and summer the Apemen play two Belgian open-air festivals and also tour Spain. Drummer Mike Rosema is succeeded by Johnny Zuidhof who also plays in Simm Alley and Batmobile.

2000

In March their US label releases the sampler CD 7 Inches Of Love, featuring all singles, all individual tracks on previous samplers plus two live tracks.

2001 - 2002

Between January and October 2001 The Apemen perform in The Hague, Zierikzee, Vlaardingen, Alphen a/d Rijn, Eindhoven, Schiedam and Goes. 2002 is kicked off with a show in the Belgian town Geel on a festival with Velvetone, Malibu Maniacs, Los Putas and Evil Thingies. The band plays shows in the Netherlands but also in Belgium: Recyclart Festival in Brussels (22 September) and Antwerp (2x) including the Monsters Of Rock 'n Roll festival (30 November).

2007

The Apemen's official farewell gig is on 6 January in the town Geel in Belgium.
