Melodic pop rock band that scores an international hit with the song You.

1984

Ten Sharp is formed and signs to CBS. The band's first single is When The Snow Falls.

1985

The second single, Japanese Love Song, reaches number 30 in the Dutch charts.

1990

Ten Sharp records the song You.

1991

You is released and shoots to number 3 in the Dutch charts. The song also climbs the charts in countries such as the UK, Spain and Greece. Its follow-up is Ain't My Beating Heart, which also enters the charts although it is not as successful as its predecessor.

1992

Ten Sharp Rich Man is Ten Sharp's next hit single.

1993

The band's new CD The Fire Inside is released.

1994

Ten Sharp goes on tour.

1995

Ten Sharp The album Shop Of Memories comes out.

1996

Ten Sharp records the CD Roots, an album with covers from their favourite artists.

1997 - 1998

Ten Sharp Another tour, but as yet no new album.

1999

Singer Marcel Kapteijn releases a solo single in the Dutch language: Ze Ziet Me Niet Staan ('She Doesn't See Me').

2001

Hermes is credited as the producer of some tracks of the comeback album by chanteuse Conny Vandenbos.

2002

The band starts the recordings of new album Stay. Guest musicians include Hubert Heeringa, Nick Bult, Ton Dijkman, Giovanni Caminata and Rob Winter. Peter van Asten and Tom Bakker deserve credit as co-composers and co-producers. After a first disappointing mastering process, the album release is postponed until the next year.

2003

The single One Love, released on January 28, the first track lifted off upcoming fifth album Stay, marks the first sign of life in years. In September Hermes and his family emigrate to New-Zeeland, effectively putting Ten Sharp activities on hold for a while.

2004 - 2005

Under the Luckyfella moniker Marcel Kapteijn and songwriter/producer Peter de Wijn release various danceable Latin albums. It All Begins With A Smile (2004) and Danceville (2005) contain contributions by Fred van Straten (ex-De Gigantjes). Kapteijn contributes to the Christmas single That's Why It's Xmas by his former band mate Niels Hermes, who is working in Holland again. The single comes out in November 2005 by the name of Hermes.
