Natascha Slagtand (1974) is born in Rotterdam into a musical family. She is influenced by the music she hears at home: Billy Holliday, Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield and later Angie Stone and Jill Scott. She starts taking singing lessons at the age of six and as an adolescent she starts working with jazz combo's, r&b groups and in 1996 she can be heard on Dutch rapper E-Life's debut single Stacked With Honnors.

On 22 and 23 February the band plays at the afterparty of a Jill Scott concert in Paradiso, Amsterdam. In May they are one of two Dutch acts at the Drum Rhythm Festival in Amsterdam. Tasha hold talks with several record companies, but nothing has resulted from that so far. This in contrary to Japan where Tasha's World's debut album is released on May 29 at Avex. In June it is announced that Tasha's World is one of the winners of a Dutch Essent Award. Consequently, the band is invited to play at the Lowlands festival in August.
