Svitlana Azarova was born in Ukraine in 1976

Education and background
She graduated in 1996 from Izmail Pedagogical Institute in Ukraine. From 1996-1997 she attended international summer master-classes held by such known composers as Marek Kopelent, Luis de Pablo, Paul Mefano, Jean-Ives Busser and Zygmunt Krauze (Czech Republic). In 2000 she graduated as a composer from Odessa State A.V.Nezhdanova Conservatoire (now Odessa State A.V.Nezhdanova Musical Academy) under Prof. Karmella Tsepkolenko. In the same year she attended master-classes held by Faraj Karaev and Krzystof Meyer in Azerbaijan. In 2003 she was a participant at the six months long scholarship program of the Ministry Culture of Republic Poland (Gaude Polonia) at the Frédéric Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw with professor Marcin Blazewicz. In 2005 she was elected to participate with a grant from the society KulturKontakt Austria in the 9th International Academy for New Composition and Audio-Art, Avantgarde Tirol with Professor Boguslaw Schaeffer and Dr. Richard Boulanger (Seefeld, Austria). In 2007 she graduated MMus Composition with Theo Loevendie at the Amsterdam Conservatorium (The Netherlands).

Compositions
Svitlana Azarova has written compositions for various instrumentations and ensembles - selected examples: Onderdrukte Haast (Suppressed Haste) for brass quintet (2007); On Tuesdays for ensemble with words by Daniil Harms - written for Nieuw Ensemble (2007); Sounds from the Yellow Planet for ensemble and recordings of throat singing by Khoomei virtuoso Nikolay Oorzhak (2006); Model Citizens for violoncello and piano, commissioned by Doris Hochscheid and Frans van Ruth (2006); Valentina's Blues for piano, commissioned by Marcel Worms (2006) and published by Donemus; Hotel Charlotte for string quartet (2005); The Violinist's morning espresso for violin (2005); Outvoice, outstep and outwalk for bass clarinet (2004); Asiope for ensemble (2004); Go-as-you-please for ensemble (2003); Symphonic Lana Sweet for large symphony orchestra (2003); Feet on Fire for 2 percussionists (2003); In the Icy Loneliness for 2 violoncellos (2002); Axis of Every Karuss... for clarinet, piano and violoncello (2002); As for the Clot it is Slowly... for tuba (2001); Chronometer for piano (2000). Her works are being performed in Armenia, Austria, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and USA.
