Biography Strijbos & Van Rijswijk

The Dutch composers Rob van Rijswijk and Jeroen Strijbos studied Music Technology at the Hogeschool voor de Kusten Utrecht (Utrecht Art College) in the Netherlands. They specialised with Honours in Composition Electronic & Computer Music and Composition in Context. They worked at the Hogskole I Telemark Raulandsakademiet in Rauland, Norway and NoTAM studio in Oslo where they wrote numerous electro acoustic compositions. The work of Strijbos & Van Rijswijk can be characterised by the combination of computer composition with elements of space, design and music technology. Their work strives to continually explore the edges and interfaces of various art disciplines. They have provided the music for a large number of film, dance and theatre projects, whereby the principle of mutual influence between composer, director and choreographer proved to be a recurring factor. Included in their autonomous work is a variety of electro acoustic compositions written for live concerts & various installations. Concerts/exhibitions took place in San Francisco, London, New York, Belfast, Paris, Zürich, Amsterdam and Berlin.

2009

'SoundSpots' a directional multi speaker sound installation was selected for the Bourges International Competitions 2009, Electroacoustic Music and Electronic Arts

2010

Strijbos and Van Rijswijk received a honorary mention for the Prix Ton Bruynèl 2010.
