Biography Soulvation

Collaboration between DJ/producer/remixer/label boss Ronald Molendijk and keyboard player/producer Jeroen Rietbergen, in which the best of house music, pop and jazz are combined.

2001

For DJ/producer Ronald Molendijk a dream comes true when he joins a real band. Together with keyboard player Jeroen Rietbergen he forms Soulvation. The two have been working together before in the vinyl-only project Flat Earth Society. Since they've already established a name for themselves as solo artists, they have no problem getting on the bill of some of the major festivals, like the North Sea Jazz festival, Parkpop festival and Dance Valley. The first single to be released is the disco-oriented I Just Can't Stop. It reaches number 85 in the Mega Top 100. In September the debut album Some Love is released and has guest appearances by both Candy Dulfer and Hans Dulfer. By the end of the year Ronald tours the country with the Marlboro Flashback tour that has as themes disco and dance. The second single, Flying Into Love, fails to reach the Mega Top 100 chart.

April sees the release (on the BMG label) of a third single, a newly recorded version of the album track Summer In The City. Those who buy Summer In The City and show the receipt of it, can win music lessons by one of the band members. All three-hour works shops come with a guided tour through the Soulvation recording studio.

2003

Jeroen Rietbergen, Michel van Schie and Ronald Molendijk from Soulvation produce the new Jan Akkerman album. The song Reset Your Brain is a summer hit. In September Jan Duikeren breaks his leg and misses out on several shows.

2005

With new bassist Emanuel Platino and guitarist Willem Philipsen the band prepares the Motivated club tour, at some stage starring Hans Dulfer. The same-titled album is due for release in early 2006.

2006

Motivated is released in June. First single is I Wanna Be With You. The video is filmed in Barcelona.

2007

On 10 May guitarist Willem Philipsen is admitted into hospital with a severe CVA. Soulvation composes the song We're The Voices and the Eurovision anthem for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
