[Jiga-Vôo] mixes Afrobeat with Caribbean and South American rhythms. The trio is the result of a long term musical friendship between the percussionist Roël Calister (Wicked Jazz Sounds, Izaline Calister, Alain Clark), the Portuguese singer Magda Mendes (Goiabada, Camiel, LuzAzul) and the multi-instrumentalist Praful. [Jiga-Vôo] performed earlier under the name At'awo. In the fall of 2009 the band's debut album Instinto is released. Live on stage the band is extended to a seven piece outfit. label Rob Agerbeek records a number of boogie-woogie albums. He incidentally plays with Jan Pieters's The Swing Society. He also makes his debut as a piano sub in the Dutch Swing College Band. He forms a new trio with bassist Harry Emmery and drummer Ben Schröder, which remains unchanged for the next thirty years.
