1979

Mark Foggo Before Liverpool-born musician Mark Foggo leaves for the Netherlands, he shares a flat in London with Declan MacManus (later also known as Elvis Costello). Together with MacManus and several other musicians Foggo plays punk and rhythm & blues in the London pubs. Foggo arrives in the Netherlands at a time when the popularity of ska music has reached its peak with bands like Madness and The Specials. He starts performing with a Dutch group called Pavane. With several members of Pavane Foggo forms a new band called The Secret Meeting: bassist Melvin van Eldik, drummer Steve Keen, keyboard player Willy Huisman and guitarist Robbie Elzinga (ex-White Honey). The band plays new wave and ska. Famous names that also join the group are Michiel Hoogenboezem and Freddie Cavalli.

1980

Single New Shoes is a Dutch hit and remains one of Mark Foggo's best-known songs to this day. In the UK New Shoes is also played by famous BBC DJ John Peel.

After one LP and three singles, the curtain falls.

1984

Bassist Melvin van Eldik leaves the band to form Norman & The Starmakers and salsa band Paolo Passionata & The Pennies From Heaven. Foggo moves to Eindhoven and forms The Skasters. Foggo's increasingly popular.

2000

The Babyshakers is a project from Mark Foggo, keyboard player André Stuivenberg (Mr. Review), drummer René Beaart (The Mighty Jackals) and bassist Anna Wodka (The Serial Skankers). Their mix of ska and rock 'n'roll results in the Shake The Baby.
