Hip hop duo which had a major hit with its debut single in The Netherlands as well as in 45 other countries.
Breakdancer and rapper MC Miker G (Lucien Witteveen) meets DJ Sven (Sven van Veen). They decide to record a demo called Holiday Rap, based on the Madonna song Holiday. In July the song is released through Dureco and it reaches the number one spot in 34 countries and the top 10 in twelve other countries. At the end of the year their second single Celebration Rap is released. It is less successful than the Holiday Rap, but still reaches the top 10 in over thirty countries and turns gold in The Netherlands.
The duo goes on an extensive tour of Iceland, Israel, Italy, France and Spain, but decides to split up for a while immediately after the tour. While DJ Sven continues working as a disc jockey, Miker G goes to New York to record his first solo album called I'm A B-Bone. The first single taken off the album, Don't Let The Music Stop, reaches the lower regions of the Dutch charts.
The reunited duo records a new single with producer Quincy Lizer. And The Bite Goes On, however, doesn't even reach the charts. Miker G also records Nights Over New York, based on LL Cool J's I Need Love, which reaches number 15 in the Dutch charts.
Miker G and DJ Sven work with Dutch rocker Peter Koelewijn which results in the fact that the latter's sixties hit Kom Van Dat Dak Af, becomes a hit record for the fourth time in its history.
Miker G goes solo and releases Show 'M The Bass, which becomes a minor hit record. His second single, the maxi-single Backseat Betty, does even less. In the autumn Miker G's second album, The Turning Point Of The White Tornado, is released.
Holiday Rap is re-released, but only dents the charts.
Miker G works with Return To Zero on their single Dance Your Ass Off.
Miker G also contributes lyrics to RTF's single Locked In The Rhythm (Ala Bianca, AB 1396012).
After a new cover version of Holiday by France's Mad'House, Holiday Rap 2002 is released in August. Just like Mad´House Mc Miker G And Dj Sven use a sample of Stardust's Music Sounds Better.
As of January 8 each Saturday Night DJ Sven presents Veronica's Disco Inferno on Radio Veronica.
DJ Sven sells his café to concentrate fully on his work as a DJ. Starting April he can be heard in programmes such as radio Veronica's Somertijd. Besides radio, Sven also works as a DJ at parties in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Israel. He also features at the Veronica's 80's and 90's Hits The Party! at the Heineken Music Hall. In an interview the DJ says that the career of his pal MC Miker-G has been less successful.
As a kind of tribute, MC Miker G is asked by rapper Extince to appear on his album Toch?
