Biography Hugo van Eysselsteyn Kummer

Hugo van Eysselsteyn Kummer was born on November 12, 1927 in Bussum.

Musical Education
He studied piano with Ina Lutz and Henk Broekstra and voice, harmony, counterpoint and piano with the organist Ype Rusticus. From 1960 to 1965 he studied theory and composition with Wim Brandse, piano with Ger Guit, history with Otto Hamburg and psychology with Peter Berman. In 1973 he studied with Harvey Easton (University of London, as an external student) for a Bachelor of Music degree.


Activities

He taught piano and various instruments. In 1967 he settled in England and began teaching harmony.


Publications

Hugo van Eysselsteyn Kummer has written many essays and methods. He has done music research, among others, on the characteristics of the music of Dorset (U.K.).


Compositions

He composed songs on poems by R.S. Thomas, C. Day Lewis, R. Garlick and T. Hardy, several choral works and chamber music.Published by Donemus:Sonata, voor cello (1976) en Rover Sonata, voor klarinet (1980)
