Biography Hugo de Groot

1897 - 1986

Hugo de Groot was born in 1897 in 's Hertogenbosch and died in 1986 in Laren.

He followed violin, trumpet and piano lessons at the music school in 's Hertogenbosch and thereafter studied at the Conservatory of the Hague.

He was violinist in the Concertgebouw Orchestra. For 34 years he was conductor of the Dutch Radio Orchestra and guest-conductor of many symphony orchestras in The Netherlands and abroad.

He wrote music for film, orchestra, wind orchestra, chamber music and songs.
