Biography Henri Broeren

Henri Broeren was born on September 8, 1957.


Education

He studied at the Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg and received a diploma in music education. At the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague he studied compostion with Peter Schat and Jan Boerman.


Activities

Henri Broeren taught music at a high school and at the Amsterdam College of Arts. He was organizer of numerous concerts and festivals such as Resonans (podium for contemporary music in Den Bosch), co-initiator and director of the festival November Music, organizer of the Tromp Music Biënnale, manager of the Aquarius Ensemble and co-initiator and manager of the Muziekcentrum ’s-Hertogenbosch (now called De Toonzaal). From 2003 to 2009 he was director of the ArtEZ Academy (a merged institute of the former conservatories of music in Arnhem, Enschede and Zwolle and the Messiaen Academy). Since February 2009 he is the manager of the Limburgs Symfonie Orkest in Maastricht.


Compositions

He composed for orchestra, choir, large en small ensembles, soloists and frequently for combinations of instruments and electronics.
