1994

Green Lizard is formed by the brothers Tjon Ajong (Brian, Remi and Willy).

After several changes in its line-up Green Lizard wins a national talent show, 'De Grote Prijs van Nederland,' which really made the band's name.

1997

Green Lizard Green Lizard goes on tour in The Netherlands with Laberinto, and with Undeclinable Ambuscade they go on tour in France. Their self-released and critically acclaimed mini-CD The Nine EP comes out in the autumn. None other than Jack Endino, who also worked with Nirvana and Soundgarden, produces the album.

1998 - 1999

Green Lizard signs a record deal with Double T Music and goes on tour with Belgian label mates K's Choice. They also play the opening tune for a Dutch TV show called Jiskefet.

2000

Green Lizard's full-length debut Identity is released and the band is invited to play at Pinkpop.

2001

Green Lizard again plays at Pinkpop and in August they do a showcase at the PopKomm tradefair in Germany. In the so-called Marlboro Flashbacks series of gigs they play a set of Nirvana covers.

2002

Green Lizard wins a Silver Harp, an industry prize for promising newcomers. Green Lizard wins a Silver Harp, an industry prize for promising newcomers. On August 23 new album Newborn is released. Wrong is the first single to be taken off this set. Henry Rollins is featured on the track Die Fucker. Apart from the Lowlands festival, the band performs live at the Belgian Pukkelpop festival. Singer Remi is the director of the video to Never Said A Word by young band Soundsurfer.


2003

In April the new single Mouthful hits the stores. In the same month Green Lizard finishes its domestic tour. The last show (in Haarlem's Patronaat) is recorded and released as a live CD. In August Green Lizard leaves for the States for a short tour of the Midwest.


2004

In May Green Lizard stays for a week in Colombia, where the band appears in a show at national music television channel Mucha Music. Additionally, the band plays at of one the biggest festivals in capital, Bogota. In the fall the band tours the GSA territories, where around that time the album Newborn is released. For a short time Bassist Jan Jaap Onverwagt and guitarist Brian Tjon Ajong join the originally American band Jaya The Cat. Onverwagt and Remi Tjon Ajong join The Original Soundtrack, a project (a 'super group') set up by Tom Sikkers (Wealthy Beggar) and Music Lab Brabant.

2005

At the 10th anniversary gig in Paradiso Amsterdam on January 23 Willy Tjon Ajong leaves the band, to pursue on a solo career. Green Lizard continues as a four-piece. Before cutting its third album in June, the band embarks on a short Dutch and Belgian try-out tour, featuring all new material and aptly titled the Preparing For Battle Tour 2005. Ocean Way LA staff engineer Clif Norrell (of No Doubt, Faith No More and Weezer fame) mixes the self-produced album. The September-released album marks Green Lizard's first pan-European release. In the fall the band embarks on an extensive European tour. On November 3 the single One Minute/AllYou Have is released on I Scream Records, a split single with Belgian band Jane Detd. In November the band plays four shows in the Netherlands with German band Union Youth.


2006

Green Lizard Together with Jane Detd Green Lizard kicks off the seven-dates Converse One Star Tour. The album Las Armas Del Silencio and the single Walk Over Water are released. In May the band plays in Paris, Lyon and Montepellier. In August Green Lizard and the Gathering play at Hungary's Sziget festival. Especially for this occasion they release a free limited edition split single (5.000 copies) for the punters. The single is a co-production of MusicXport.nl and I Scream Records. The official next single is the ballad One Last Kiss (September). In October and November Green Lizard supports UK singer Skin on the European big venue tour (capacity: 1.000-3.000) along Germany, Switzerland and Italy. In order to promote the band as good as possible the single Walk Over Water is released in Germany and Italy with promotional support by big local PR offices such as Die4ma (Germany) and Prom-O-Rama (Italy).

2007

With German bands Monta and S.P.Q.R.T. Green Lizard plays at a Visions party organised by the same-named German alternative rock magazine on January 6 at Forum in Bielefeld. In the same month the band plays at the Festival Maroq 'n' Roll in Paris and Local 100% in St. Etienne. On May 13 the album is released in the US. After 12 years drummer Roeland Uijtdewilligen leaves the band. He continues with his folk band We-nun Henk. He is temporarily replaced by Bram van den Berg (Krezip) until the band has found a new drummer. The show in Almere on 21 April is the band's first with new drummer Jasper Dankaart (ex-Agresión). The song Gone Away is used for an online commercial by BMW.

2008

The band is taking things slow. Remi Tjon Ajong is busy raising his son Miko, finishing his study Advanced Character Animation in San Fransisco. He is also producing an EP for the band Left which is scheduled for release early 2009.
