1989

Gorefest is formed and records its first demo Tangled In Gore.

1990

The demo Horrors In A Retarded Mind is recorded and the band goes on tour with UK band Carcass. They have also signed to Dutch label Foundation 2000.

1991

Gorefest's debut album Mindloss is released. In November and December the band tours with US death trash metal band Revenant.

1992

Gorefest signs to Nuclear Blast. They start recordings for their second album and tour Europe with US band Deicide.

Elegy

1993

False, the band's second album is released. The live album The Eindhoven Insanity also comes out and at the end of the year Gorefest tours the US with Death.

1994

Erase, Gorefests third album, is released. The band's musical course is gradually moving away from the death metal genre.

1995

The mini CD Fear is released.

1996

Soul Survivor comes out. Gorefest's new sound is now heavily inspired by more accessible heavy metal. The band tours the country and plays at the Dynamo Open Air festival.

1997

Gorefest signs to the German SPV label and goes into the studio.

1998

The CD Chapter 13 is released and in April they tour with Judas Priest. However, sales of the band's recent albums are disappointing and they end up playing their last gig in The Netherlands in their hometown Goes.

1999

Gorefest officially splits up.

2001

With his new band Coldpop Culture De Koeijer debuts live on stage.

Drummer Ed Warby joins Star One featuring Ayreon, the latest project by Arjen Lucassen, on its European tour in September and October

2004

In the end of June it is announced that the members of Gorefest are back in the rehearsal room. They cut new songs and plan a new album release.

2005

The band's sixth studio album La Muerte is released in October. The album is mixed by Tue Madsen (Mnemic, EktoMorf) in the AntFarm Studios. A video is shot for opening track For the Masses.

2006

Jan-Chris De Koeijer is featured as guest vocalist on the track Crusader on the album War by Born From Pain. Drummer Ed Warby also plays with Hail Of Bullets, featuring members of Pestilence, Asphyx, Houwitser and Thanatos.

The next album Rise To Ruin (August) is supported by a tour in October with the bands One Man Army And The Undead Quartet and Before The Fall.

2008

Gitarist Boudewijn Bonebakker forms the band Gingerpig. Bonebakker's 1967 Hammond organ plays an important role in this band.

2009

In June Gorefest announces that after reforming in 2004, the release of the albums La Muerte en Rise To Ruin and more than one hundred show, the party's now really over. On MySpace the band members give the following reason for them to quit: 'Every ride comes to an end. This is our's'. Drummer Ed Warby and Swedish Rogga Johansson start their project The 11th Hour and they release the CD Burden Of Grief, a concept album about the final days of a man who is terminally ill.
