Biography Face Tomorrow

One the most important Dutch representatives of the so-called emocore style.

1997

Face Tomorrow is named after a song by the band Mouthpiece. Initially, Face Tomorrow plays oldschool hardcore.

1998

The band records the five-track demo Ride Like A Girl.

1999

Singer Aart becomes the band's guitarist.

2000

Singer Jelle Schrooten joins Face Tomorrow and the band's popularity is on the increase, at home as well as abroad.

2001

The self-released CD Live The Dream comes out. The band plays at the Metropolis festival and in November they win the public's award at the finale of the Grand Prix of the Netherlands Talent Show. The three-track CD Worth The Wait is released.

2002

Face Tomorrow signs to Reflections Records. The band's full-length debut, For Who You Are, is recorded. In August Face Tomorrow plays at the Lowlands festival. In November the band gets nominated for an Essent Award music award.

2003

Face Tomorrow plays at the Noorderslag festival in January. In February the band tours the UK. With AFI Face Tomorrow plays a sell-out show at the London Astoria during the NME Carling Awards. In April the band kicks off a four-week European tour. In December Face Tomorrow goes into the studio to start recordings for the album The Closer You Get.

2004

Face Tomorrow By the end of January Face Tomorrow starts recording a new album with Axel Kabboord in the producer's seat. The single Sign Up comes out in April, followed by the band's new album The Closer You Get. Only a week after its release the first pressing of 3.000 copies is sold out. The video with the new single is played in the UK on MTV2 in Headbangers Ball. From April to September the band tours the Netherlands, France, Belgium, the UK and Germany (with H-Blockx).

2005

Face Tomorrow For the second time Face Tomorrow plays the Lowlands festival. Here, the band also presents the DVD 03/02/05. Face Tomorrow is invited to play at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York on September 17. Two days before the band also plays at the Popkomm trade fair in Berlin. In October, after its international shows, the band takes time off from touring to write and record material for a new album. First try-outs take place in May 2006. In the meantime the band members are also involved in various side projects: Aart Steekelenburg records a mini album with the The Hot Stewards, Sjoerd van de Knoop goes into the studio with Dead By Dawn and Marc Nolte works on a project called The Grey Distance. After their international shows the band works on new material, first played live at try-outs in May.

2006

Aart Steekelenburg and Jacques de Haard (ex-Celestial Season) are producers of an EP by Embrace Fire, ex-bassist Denis Frietman's new band. Sjoerd van der Knoop is also the drummer of Viberider.

2007 - 2008

Face Tomorrow and producer Martijn Groeneveld work on the band's third album, In The Dark, which is released by Excelsior Recordings. The tour kicks off on 4 October with an album presentation in Rotown, Rotterdam.

2009

Face Tomorrow plays at the Noorderslag festival in January. The band's rhythm section also plays in SiMÓN, a band that releases debut album Slices Of You in the spring.

2010

After having been involved with Face Tomorrow as a guitarist, booker and manager for more than 12 years, Marc Nolte plays his last gig with the band at club Watt in Rotterdam on 29 January. He leaves the band because he is looking for new musical challenges

2011

Face Tomorrow in 2011 The single The Fix (February) can also be found on the album Face Tomorrow (March). The cd is recorded by Jochem Jacobs in the Split Second Sound Studio in Amsterdam and contains guest vocals by Casper Starreveld and Eloi Youssef of the band Kensington. After gigs in Belgium and Germany Face Tomorrow does a Dutch tour, with Ralf Mastwijk new on guitar. In August the band plays four special acoustic shows, three as part of the Live In Your Living Room Tour in Oss, Rotterdam and Anden and the fourth on the terrace of club Mezz in the city of Breda.

2012

After fifteen years, four albums and more than 600 shows Face Tomorrow calls it quits at the end of 2012. Before starting their Hello, Goodbye Tour in November, the band does a couple of acoustic shows. During their November tour they share the stage with returned band Green Lizard. At the end of November Face Tomorrow also says goodbye to their fans in Belgium and Germany. Sunday November 25 Face Tomorrow performs for the very last time in hometown Rotterdam, with an acoustic set in De Unie in the afternoon and later that day in the Rotown club.
