Biography Destine

Destine is a pop-punk band with members from Tilburg and Breda, inspired by the American bands Fall Out Boy, Paramore and Simple Plan. The band members attract attention because of their fashionable haircuts. In August 2009 the band plays the Lowlands festival and records its debut album Lightspeed in Florida. In January 2010 it is released by Sony. Destine performs in Europe, as support act for McFly, New Found Glory, Fall Out Boy, All Time Low and The Blackout.

2006 - 2007

Destine starts as a solo project by Amersfoort-based multi-instrumentalist and singer Robin van Loenen (13 January 1986). He records all the tracks for A Dozen Dreams by himself. This EP is mastered by Martijn Groeneveld (a balladeer, Face Tomorrow and Solo). The song Last Scene of a Plane Crash is used as signature tune for the TV station Comedy Central. Together with bassist Tom Vorstius Kruijff (11 September 1984) and drummer Robin Faas (16 September 1985) (Reckless, Monomania), fellow students at the Tilburg Rock Academy, he starts a band to perform his songs live, and to work on new song material. Guitarist Hubrecht Eversdijk (27 July 1986) and keyboardist Laurens Troost (24 October 1981) (who had been active together as the duo Intheshade) complete the band. In March 2007 Destine starts its first tour of the Netherlands. The first two concerts abroad are in Belgium (31 May in Ghent and 1 June in Liège). In August there is a tour through England, including a performance at the One World Festival in Sevenoaks. At the end of the year they do three shows in Germany.

The band registers its career in films which are shown on the website www.destine.tv. In December 2008 Destine signs with Sony BMG. Before then the band has made contact with James Paul Wisner, producer for Paramore and New Found Glory. With Wisner in charge Destine records some tracks in Orlando, Florida. From Florida the band travels to California to shoot a music video with director Marco Delatorre. The first result of the collaboration with Wisner is the single In Your Arms (May 2009), which reaches the number 77 position in the Single Top 100. In August the band presents a second single, Stars (Alarmschijf on Radio 538), at their Lowlands show. The single reaches the number 26 position in the Dutch Top 40. In September the band returns to the States to finish recording its debut album. On 20 November their European tour starts in Romagnano Sesia, Italy; from December as support act to the British band The Blackout.
