He studied composition with Robert Erickson at the University of California in San Diego, and with Louis Andriessen and Earle Browun at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
Activities
Next to his compositional activities he performs as as a singer/guitar player in the Avant-Rock Trio Analecta. He has made controversial arrangements for John Cale, Junkie XL and Ellen ten Damme, in association with the Metropole Orchestra. Dramm's name appears on divers podia, from the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, the Bimhuis to and the alternative rock festivals such as the Tegentonen Festival in Paradiso, Amsterdam and Crossing Border Festival in The Hague.
Compositions
As a compser David Dramm has received commissions from the Asko Ensemble, the Orkest de Volharding, the Aurelia Saxophone Quartet,the Amsterdam Guitar Trio, the Albany Symphony and musicians such as Frances Marie Uitti, Tomoko Mukaiyama, Anne La Berge, Seth Josel and Marcel Worms. His music is performed regularly throughout Europe at festivals such as 10 Jahre Freunde Guter Musik in Berlin, the Finnish Time of Music and the New Music Days in Tallinn, Estland.
