Biography Caroline Ansink

Caroline Ansink was born on August 8, 1959 in Amsterdam.
She studied flute at the Utrecht Conservatory with Abbie de Quant (graduating in 1986) and composition with Joep Straesser (1983-1988). She also followed master classes with Isang Yun.
Caroline Ansink is a freelance flutist and she teaches at the Utrecht Conservatory. As a composer she works primarily in commission. She sees music as a way of communication and seeks for the integration of music from all ages, cultures and styles.
By GEDOK Mannheim she was awarded a second prize for the string quartet Shades of Silence (1984) in 1985 and a first prize for Pyrrhus for organ (1989) in 1989. She was awarded a third prize by the Association of Hungarian Musicians for the piano trio Skopós (1988). In 1990 she received the Aanmoedigingsprijs (Incentive Prize) from the Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst for her compositions Night and Day (1988) for chamber orchestra, and Zeitenschrunde (1989) for choir, flute, clarinet, trumpet and trombone. She received an honourable mention for Brezze for string quartet in 1990 at The Washington International Competition and in 1992 a prize from the city of Chard (England).
