Biography Bambix

Punk rock trio that plays catchy punk pop songs and has a large following in Europe and South America.

1988

Bambix in 1988 Bambix starts out as an 'all girl band' that is formed by Willia van Houdt, Maniet Voets and Nathalie Delisse. The name Bambix (which is an oatmeal porridge) stands both for innocence as for little children and growing up and becoming big and strong. The girls do not possess any musical skills, but they make for that with their enthusiasm.

1992

The trio's first album, Out Of The Cradle Endlessly Rocking (after a Walt Whitman poem), is released via GAP Records and gets raving reviews. The girls support Bad Religion during its Dutch shows.

1995

The Dutch punk rockers close a deal with the German label Vitaminepillen and release the album Crossing Common Borders.

1996

Bambix performs at the Dynamo Open Air rock festival.

1998

Bambix is no longer an all girl band when new drummer Peter Dragt joins the group for the recording of their third album Leitmotiv. The album gets good reviews in the German press but the Dutch press is less enthusiastic. By this time Bambix' has become so popular in Germany that the band performs there at least once every week.

1999

Bambix The album Leitmotiv is also released in Brazil on the local Barulhu label. Other Bambix albums are also released in Brazil. In December Bambix tours with UK punk rockers GBH in Germany. New bassist Marien Steensma can first be heard with the band on a split-single with Skin Of Tears.

2000

Bambix goes on a successful tour of Brazil. Other countries the band tours are Croatia, Slovenia, Austria and Germany. The group's fourth album, What's In A Name, is also released on the Vitaminepillen label. More changes in the band's line-up: Marien is replaced by Janneke Bernaert.

2002

In December Janneke decides to end her career in music and focus on another hobby: horses. She is replaced by Patrick.

2003

Bambix kicks off another tour. In April and May the band can be seen in Italy and between 10 and 30 July Bambix goes to Brazil for 16 shows. They record a live CD in during the sell-out show at Club Hangar in Sao Paulo, which is released via the Brazilian label Nitroala Records. Bambix can be seen live on MTV Brazil.

2004

Bambix Bambix is awarded one of the best bands of 2003 by MTV Brazil. The band is working on a new album and also signs a recording deal with US label Daemon Records, which is also the label of bands like the Indigo Girls. Bambix is the first foreign act to be signed by Daemon. The album, Club Matuchek, comes out in the US and Canada in September after which Bambix goes on tour with the Indigo Girls. The band also signs to Go Kart Records, which releases the album, Club Matuchek Europe and Japan after the summer. The band tours Holland. The motto is 'Nobody Likes Us, We Don't Care!'. By the end of June they present the video along single So Sorry Song at a show in their hometown Nijmegen.

2005

Bambix The video of Annie is on-line on Rolling Stone's web site. GoKart releases a DVD consisting of Bambix videos plus live footage from German and Brazilian shows. Bambix performs live at the Openohr Festival in Mainz (Germany) and travels once more to Brazil for a couple of shows. Bambix contributes with two tracks to the Oostpunk ('Eastern Punk') sampler, featuring local bands from the band's hometown Nijmegen. In December Bambix is on an extended European tour.

2006

In the spring Bambix tours England. In April and May Bambix embarks on the Pre-Weltmeister ('Pre-World Cup') Punkrock Tour through Germany with German band The Go Faster Nuns and Barzil's Nitromind.

2007

In the spring the international pop punk compilation Pop-Punks Not Dead is released through Go-kart Records. Bambix contributes the track Little Less Drunk. Go-kart Records also releases the compilation DVD Twisted TV in the summer. Bambix contributes the video So Sorry Song, the second track on the DVD. The band is working on a new album.

2008

After a tour of Germany, Bambix presents the new album Bleeding In A Box in Nijmegen on 15 February. The next day the German presentation of the album takes place in Frankfurt. The thirteen tracks on Bleeding In A Box are produced by Bambix and DJ Moens, the guitarist of Belgium punk band La Muerte. The album is described by the band as 'melodramatic worked up rock, played with an honest and true punk attitude'. In Europe, America and Brazil, the record is released through Go-kart. In Brazil the album is released through Century Media. The band tours Brazol between 25 April and 9 May.
