Biography Awkward i
Awkward I is the brainchild of songwriter Djurre de Haan. In 2006 he is a finalist in the Singer/Songwriter category of the Grote Prijs van Nederland (the major Dutch competition for starting musicians). Together with Diederik Nomden (ex-Johan, ex-Daryll-Ann) De Haan records songs in his home studio for the richly arranged debut album I Really Should Whisper, which is released by Excelsior Recordings in September 2009. Before the CD is out, Awkward I is already invited to South By Southwest in Austin, North By Northeast in Toronto and CMJ in New York. Awkward I performs in ever changing line-ups featuring Jelte van Andel (Ghost Trucker), Susanne Linssen (Hospital Bombers, ex-Seedling), Len Lucieer (Alamo Race Track), David Corel (ex-Johan, ex-Alamo Race Track) and Bo Koek (Kopna Kopna). Djurre de Haan also plays bass in the band Alamo Race Track.
