Hazes is born on June 30.

Uit de fotocollectie van Beeld en Geluid: André Hazes bij de Weekendshow met Johnny Kraaykamp (1959) Hazes visits a Muddy Waters and B.B. King concert. He makes his television debut with the song Piove and also records Droomschip ('Dream Boat') and Juanita.

Between the years 1965 and 1976 Hazes has several jobs.

Hazes releases the single Eenzame Kerst ('Lonely Christmas'), in cooperation with fellow Dutch-language singer Willy Alberti, which sells 70.000 copies within 3 weeks.

The single Mamma is a big hit and Hazes' debut album Zo Is het Leven ('That's Life'), with lyrics by songwriters like Herman Pieter de Boer, is released.

Hazes signs to EMI and starts working with producer Tim Griek. In December the Christmas album Eenzame Kerst is released, preceded by the song 'n Vriend ('A Friend').

The single 'n Beetje Verliefd ('A Little in Love') shoots straight into the Top 3. The album Gewoon André ('Simply André) wins Hazes a Zilveren ('Silver') Harp.

1982

TROS Muziek special 1982 (Bron: fotocollectie Beeld en Geluid) Hazes has become one of the most successful Dutch language singers. Despite this he's going through a difficult period in life: his schedule is so hectic that he suffers from lack of sleep and drinks too much alcohol. On top of that he also needs to undergo surgery on his vocal cords.

Hazes takes part in the Amnesty charity show Het Gebaar ('The Gesture').

1985

The singer has a television show called Een Avond Met André Hazes ('An Evening With André Hazes').

1986

With the album Innamorato André shows to be a worthy successor of legendary Dutch-language singer Willy Alberti.

The album Liefde Leven Geven ('Love, Life, Giving') is released. The single Wij Houden Van Oranje ('We Love Orange') tops the charts when the Dutch football team wins the European Championships.

1989

Hazes records the album Dit Is Wat Ik Wil op ('This is What I Want'), an album with blues and rock & roll classics.

The album Kleine Jongen ('Little Boy'), written by the musicians from Catapult, comes out. During the World Championships football Hazes hits the charts with the song Oranje Bovenaan ('Orange on Top').

De Vlieger ('The Kite') is re-released and becomes a big hit. Hazes records Samen Kunnen We Europa Aan ('Together We Can Fight Europe') for the European Championships football.

1994

A video about Hazes' anniversary concert is released. With the Dutch football team Hazes records the album Good Luck Oranje. The single Ik Heb U Lief Mijn Nederland ('I Love You Holland') shoots to the top of the charts.

1995

At the occasion of his 44th birthday Hazes releases a self-compiled box set with 3 CD's.

1997

In the spring the single Jij Bent Het Leven Voor Mij ('To Me You Are Life') is released.

1998

The release of Hazes' new album is postponed when he breaks a leg.

1999

In September André's new album is released. The documentary André Hazes, Zij Gelooft In Mij ('She Believes in Me') is shown at the International Documentary Film festival.

2000

The album Want Ik Hou Van Jou ('Because I Love You') is released.

2001

André Hazes 50 is released, a reissue consisting of all of Hazes' albums. After the summer both the album NU ('NOW') and the book Al Mijn Woorden ('All My Words') are in the shops. Within 5 weeks NU becomes platinum.

André Hazes goes into local politics, but his political career, however, is short-lived. In August he plays in front of 36.000 people at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. The tickets are sold out in five days only. At the concert he receives a gold record (acknowledging sales in excess of 40.000 copies) for his latest CD Strijdlustig ('Pugnacious' featuring covers by Traffic and Gary Moore) from the hands of multiple Eurovision Song Contest winner, Irish singer Johnny Logan. A guest appearance by young Dutch singer Jody Bernal is less successful: Bernal is hissed off the stage. In September he plays one extra show in the Rotterdam Ahoy' arena. For 2003 he is planning a stadium show in the Amsterdam Arena with a capacity of 49.000.

André Hazes celebrates 25 years in the music. In June the compilation album 25 Jaar Hazes is released. In June the Dutch singer performs at the Amsterdam Arena. On two separate nights he performs in front of 26.000 fans. The album 25 Jaar Hazes becomes gold after selling more than 40.000 copies. Hazes receives the golden record during the presentation of his DVD Live In De Amsterdam ArenA. On December 8 and 10 the singer performs at the Ahoy in Rotterdam.

2004

Hazes receives a golden and platinum record for the DVD and CD of Live In De Amsterdam ArenA. A new show at the Amsterdam ArenA is scheduled for June 25 . Hazes is also in the news because he has to pay a €750 fine for hitting and insulting a fellow-passenger on a KLM flight who had struck Hazes' son with a rolled up newspaper. Hazes has to cancel two shows at the Ahoy' because of hearing problems. On September 22 he is rushed into the local hospital with high fever and severe pneumonia. The next day the sad news is announced that André Hazes has died of a cardiac arrest. On September 27 50.000 fans pay tribute to the singer in a packed Amsterdam Arena. The ceremony is broadcast live on national TV and watched by over 5 million people. During the ceremony the mayor of Amsterdam gives a speech and several Dutch artists (René Froger, Bløf and Xander de Buisonjé) sing their favourite Hazes song. André Hazes posthumously scores a number one hit with Zij Gelooft In Mij (She Believes In Me) in both the Dutch and Flemish charts. On November 25 the book Hazes 1951-2004, written by journalist Robert Haagsma, is published.

2005

On the Liberation Day festival at Amsterdam's Museum Square on May 5 Hazes is posthumously honoured by artists from vary different musical genres. His songs are covered in styles ranging from tango to Surinamese and African. The concert is called Hazes: World Music! Pubcaster TROS produces a TV documentary series about Hazes's widow Rachel. The single Vaag En Stil ('Vague And Silent') contains the last three tracks the singer cut before he died. On September 23 the biography Typisch ('Typical') André is published. On the same day a Hazes statue is unveiled. It is made in China. The DVD Bloed, Zweet En Tranen ('Blood, Sweat And Tears') contains a documentary featuring people from his inner circle.

2006

Wij Houden Van Oranje ('We Love Orange') the song that was a hit for André Hazes in 1988, is re-released in a new version by additional verses by rapper Ali B.

Rachel Hazes gives her permission for a musical about the life of André Hazes. The production is done by Joop van den Ende. With the duet Blijf Bij Mij ('Stay With Me') André Hazes posthumously scores his second number hit in the Single Top 100. The song is recorded by Gerard Joling. The album Samen Met Dré ('Together With Dré') features Dutch artists such as René Froger, Gerard Joling, Guus Meeuwis, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Xander de Buisonjé, Wolter Kroes and Hazes's children Roxeanne and André Jr. who all posthumously sing a duet with the singer.

2008

On 26 May the Samen Met Dré In Concert is organized. The night is a musical tribute by Dutch artists such as Frans Bauer, Gerard Joling, Marianne Weber, Xander De Buisonjé, Karin Bloemen, Wolter Kroes, Peter Beense, Trijntje Oosterhuis, René Froger, Lee Towers, Carel Kraayenhof and Berget Lewis. Again Roxeanne and André Jr. sing a duet with their father appears on a big screen.

2009

On 23 september, exactly five years after his passing, TNT Post gives out nine personal André Hazes stamps and a stampbook with his lifestory, illustrated with never before published photos.

2010

It is announced that André Hazes is the most played Dutch artist of all times in Dutch bars and cafés. The award is presented to his children Roxeanne and André Junior.

2011

Guanita/Droomschip, the first single of André Hazes, released in 1960 together with Johnny Kraaykamp, the man who discovered Hazes, is rereleased on vinyl at the end of June. The label His Master's Choice also releases a limited edition of 200 pressed on white vinyl.

During the Uitmarkt, the official annual opening of the cultural season in Amsterdam, the songs of André Hazes are central to a twelve hour marathon. The event takes place in the DeLaMar Theatre on August 25, with actors and vocalists giving their interpretation of the songs of Hazes.
